How to read it:
- IP – informs about the degree of protection of the case
- X – no specific dust protection class
- 5 – protection against water jet
In practice:
IPX5 rated equipment is resistant to pressurized water, e.g. during rain or water flushing. However, this does not mean that it can be submerged.
In a Nutshell:
IPX5 = protection against water from the outside (jet), but without dust resistance and without the possibility of submersion.
